       死刑判決を受けた受刑者が107名というニュースを見て衝撃を受けました。多くの国では死刑制度が廃止されていますが、日本ではまだ死刑制度が残っています。    日本政府は死刑を禁止し、刑務所における人権に関する文章をもっと盛り込むべきだと思います。理由を3つ挙げてみます。    まず、犯罪者の背景を無視するのは不公平です。重大な犯罪を犯した受刑者の 70% は、12 歳以前に身体的虐待、性的虐待、ネグレクトのいずれかを経験しています。これらの背景や環境が受刑者を形作ったのです。したがって、単純に有罪か無罪かで判断されるべきではない。 第二に、死刑は冤罪の場合に回復不能な損害を引き起こす可能性がある。たとえば、約70年前に冤罪がありました。免田栄は逮捕され、拷問を受け、殺人の自白を強要された。その後、彼は死刑を宣告された。彼は無罪が判明するまで34年間刑務所で過ごした。刑務所では、彼は普通の人と同じように扱われず、人権も無視されました。もし死刑判決を受けなければ、彼は自分の人生を生き、貴重な時間を過ごすことができた。34年間、彼は自分の死の恐怖に怯え、精神障害に苦しんだ。それはとても残酷で、彼が刑務所で過ごした時間を取り戻すことは不可能です。 第三に、死刑は犯罪を抑止しない。記事によると、死刑制度のある州では、ない州に比べて殺人と犯罪の発生率が高いことが判明したという。死刑が有効であることを証明する証拠はないにもかかわらず、日本は依然として死刑制度を使用している。 この3点から、私は死刑は廃止されるべきであると考えます。   情報源 投獄された成人男性の重罪犯における幼児期の被害 https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles/fs000204.pdf 2022年5月11日 34年間の服役を経て死刑囚から解放された無実の免田栄氏が95歳で死去 https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2020/12/06/national/sakae-menda-death-row-obituary/ 2022年5月11日 …
