On October 16th, 2023, Walt Disney Company turned 100 years after Walt Disney founded the company. To celebrate this magical year, Disney planned so many events and new contents. This short film “Once Upon A Studio” is one of their special celebrational contents.

This short film takes only 8 minutes to watch. However, in this tiny movie, 543 characters from more than 85 Disney films appear regardless of their roles. All heroes, villains, princes, princesses, and sidekicks are welcomed in this film, and they reunited to celebrate 100 years of the Walt Disney Company.

The unique point of this short film is that all characters appear with their own drawing. In more detail, the old film character appears as a 2D handwriting touch and the recent film character appears as a 3D CG. Because of this, many unnatural but extremely rare collaboration scenes were generated. For example, the 3D princess Moana from “Moana” (2016) holds the 2D character Flounder from “The Little Mermaid.” (1989)

In this film, all pictures from the wall start moving after the studio closes, but there is only one picture that never moves. The picture of Walt Disney stays calm and stuck in the picture wall while other Disney characters are moving freely. However, our hero Mickey Mouse came to speak to Walt Disney’s picture, and this scene made me cry.
