Starting at April 1st, half a million employees of fast-food restaurants in California got their wage raised due to a new law which requires the restaurants to pay at least twenty dollars per hour. The law also creates a fast-food council which allows representatives from both the restaurant industry and workers to increase the wage in pace with the economic circumstances and to work for the employees’ safety and fair treatments. However, many franchisees criticize the law arguing that the increase of menu prices, which is essential now, would have been avoidable if the wage increase had been done over a long period of time.

As an employee of a restaurant myself, I would say the that the new law is a hope-giving law. Although, I also believe that raised wage would effect menu prices ending up in a costly life which none of us want. In my opinion, if it had been for faster consideration on wage increase, there would have been a superior solution to this problem.
