Duòmo is a TV program that was aired exclusively in some parts of Kyushu. It was created by KBC and one of the longest TV programs in Japan, aired from 1989 to 2021. It is said that almost all people from Kyushu know the TV program.

The concept of the TV program is quite similar to 水曜どうでしょう, which I wrote about in the previous article. Compared with 水曜どうでしょう, ドーモ has a variety of projects, but my favorite one is the same as 水曜どうでしょう – traveling.

The title of the project is 前略、道路の上より. Okamoto sensei and Taiga Nagaoka drive Okamoto’s car around Kyushu in search of interesting stuff. Okamoto sensei is a famous local celebrity in Kyushu and Nagaoka is a local broadcaster working for KBC. Okamoto’s character is like a combination of Oizumi Yo and ミスター.  I like the way he laughs. Nagaoka is a broadcaster but in the program he is more of a comedian than a newscaster. He grew up in Tokyo and graduated from Waseda University. He went to Fukuoka after graduation so he did not know ドォーモ at all but he quickly became an indispensable part of the TV program.
