This movie was the story of a man who has mental disease becomes a doctor. It is based on a true story.

Patch Adams has a mental disease and he changes his job so frequently and sometimes he try to commit suicide. One day he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, and the patient sharing the room with him cannot go to the restroom alone because of a delusions. Adams pretends that he can also see it and repels the enemies by his joke. From then, the roommate becomes able to go to the restroom alone. This experience makes him to decide to become a doctor. He enter a university and study medical science but he suspects the way doctors treat patients. He think more important to connect hearts with patients than material care. He makes the patients laugh by funny actions like a clown in the hospital. Finally, he established a free hospital through many troubles such as conflicts with the professor and a death of his lover.

This movie was very heartwarming. Many scenes were very dramatic so it seems like I forgot this is based on the true story. For example, after his lover’s death a beautiful batter fly landed on his chest like she nestle close to him. Or another example, When Bill who is one of the patients are dying, Adams sing for him and he became dead listening the song. I was surprised that such a humane man actually existed and I realize always we must not forget communications with hearts and hearts.
