I want to introduce about Korean Netflix drama D.P. This drama is about Korean military police who catch runaway soldier. There are two main characters Ahn Jun-ho and Han Ho-yeol but other supporting roles are also treated with great importance. This drama gain fame by revealing Korea army’s negative side. D.P. revealed the Korea army’s dark side including beatings, abusive language, and defamation. Because of realistic describe, male viewers who served in the military commented that they reminded trauma of army when they served. The most impressive episode I saw was the desert episode of Private Cho Seok-bong. During Private Cho’s military career, he was constantly beaten, abused and sexually harassed by senior soldiers, including Sergeant Hwang Jang-soo. Sergeant Hwang makes a formal apology without asking the intention of Private Cho, who was a victim when he was discharged from the military. Private Cho demanded a sincere apology, but he was criticized by other senior soldiers for what he was doing without any notice. And the absurdity did not end, but rather, it was more severely bullied by this incident. When a senior soldier bullied him while on guard duty, Private Cho can no longer endure it, assaulted the senior soldier, and then defected to take revenge on Sergeant Hwang. Private Cho visits Sergeant Hwang and is on the verge of achieving revenge, but he is discovered by Ahn Joon-ho and Han Ho-yeol, who came after him to arrest him, and even the special lease of the unit is dispatched and suppressed. The most impressive scene in this scene was when I told the arrested Private Cho that Han Ho-yeol could change the army, and in response, Private Cho mentioned that the water container used by the Korean Army was used during the Korean War in 1950, saying, “If the water container doesn’t change, will people change?” Among the negative aspects of the military that were revealed several times in the play, it was impressive to try to convey that the military did not change in the end, taking equipment as an example.
