As you know, media plays some important roles in a society. Today, I’m going to talk about two of them. The first one is that media can provide us with the latest news as quickly as they can. It is true that the speed of news coverage and the length of it are different depending on what kind of news they are, but media usually reports news at least about half a day after something happens. We can enjoy watching those news via media such as newspapers, TV, radio, social media, and so on and we can also educate ourselves by watching them because we can keep up with news. One of the benefits of media is the instantaneousness of news. The second role is that media can tell us the standard way of speaking a language. For example, some Japanese people speak differently because there are many dialects and some languages spoken in the country. These dialects sometimes make it challenging for people speaking the standard language to communicate with those speak in a different way. Therefore, media can spread how to speak in a standard way even to the countryside where unique dialects are spoken. Thanks to media, we can interact with one another more smoothly and effectively. That is another benefit of media that we can enjoy on a daily basis.
