Itaewon Class is a drama that aired in South Korea from January 31, 2020, to March 21, 2020. It is available on Netflix in Japan. It went viral in Japan last June, partly because it was during the Covid-19 self-restraint period. Itaewon Class is produced with a global audience in mind, making it easier to watch than regular Korean dramas. Hallyu dramas require a lot of energy to watch because of the bickering between conglomerates and complicated human relationships. However, Itaewon Class is relatively simple, which makes you want to watch the next episode right away.

The drama is a revenge and success story for the main character, and it has elements that make everyone like him. But it’s not just about success, there are many obstacles along the way. And the way they overcome them is so emotionally moving that we feel drawn into the story. The production team has spent more money than the Japanese production team.

I was impressed by the scene where the main character, Park Sae Ro Yi, gets down on his knees to his nemesis, Jang Dae-hee. Twice in the past, Sae Ro Yi has been asked to get down on his knees by Dae-hee, but he has never once bowed down. It was an act of faith on his part. However, for the third time, he bent his beliefs for his purpose and got down on his knees. From this action, I felt his determination to live not for himself but others.
