Japonism : cultural exchange

In 19th century, after the Japan start intracting with foreign countries, Japanese culture influenced Western. We called these cultural exchange as Japonism. Jaepanese culture was curious and in misteries. At first, America start foreign trade and other countries followed. Contracting with Japan, many countries can get a lot of production and information. And the people who collect Jaepanese item were increased. Many imitations of Japan were  created. And many artists quoted fron the works of Japanese. Those culture evoluted into the modern art and it includes Japonism.

In the West, there were no custom to draw the animals and plants. In the West, human beings were the center of the lives. But they became to drew the landscapes by the effects of the Japanese art. Also, Western countries start using black. They import many artifacts. And they includes a lot of “urushi” which is painted in black. Jaepanese “urushi” become popular in the West and it called the “Japan” as a verb. Until then most of the pianos were painted colorfully or used the color of the natural wood. But Japonism attributed unifying the color of pianos in black.

As you can see, Western countries accepted a lot of  Jaepanese cultures but Jaepan receives many technique in the same way. So, cultural exchange played in both indicating Jaepanese identities and for the father developing of the country.

    Japonism influenced on the other countries such as Europe. For example, in Gulliver travels Gulliver came to Japan. Therefore, Japan was attractive to the others.

    Japonism had a great impact on a lot of countries, especially Eupopean ones. Now, many foreigners come to Japan, so we should continue preserving traditional japanese culture from now on, I think.
