Recently in South Korea, there was a discussion at the national assembly. The topic was “Awakening Baekdu Mountain Volcano, What should we do” and many experts in South Korea are participate to this discussion.

Baekdu Mountain was the dormant volcano, which means a volcano that has not erupted for a considerable length of time, but recently be reclassified to active volcano because frequent earthquakes and volcanic gas were observed.

Baekdu Mountain is located in between North Korea and China so people who don’t know about the mountain might think it is not related with South Korea. If is explode, however, it can affect not only the North Korea but South Korea and also Japan. The huge earthquake and flood is predicted to attack North Korea and volcanic ash from Baekdu will reach South Korea and northwest of Japan. Some experts expect the explosion could even affect the whole world such as a temperature fall.

Also in Japan, many earthquake experts predict that there must be “mega quake” in the near future. It also said to be affect to another countries such as Korea and even the American continent.

Likewise, many national disasters that are said to cause enormous damage to countries are expected now but many people don’t know about this and even if they know, they don’t accept it seriously. It is true that we don’t have to worry too much about it, but we need to aware about the possibility and know about how should we move when the disaster came. Not like the past, we are living in a highly developed age and there must be some way to make minimize the damage and it must be act at the national level.
