It is because, until now, when our emperor is gone, Japanese era’s name changes. However this time was different.  Our previous emperor decided to give the throne to his son before he dies. And previous emperor will become ‘Jokou’. My mother told me that ‘Jokou’ can not meet emperor easily. The reason is that the perspective from historical things, ‘Jokou’ had more powerful rights for politics than emperor. this is called “Insei”. That is why, previous emperor cannot meet his son easily. By the way, when emperor gives his throne to his son, he also gives three sacred treasures. The three kinds of treasures are the mirror, the sword and the crescent jewel. In fact, no one know where these treasure exist. All of them are replica. Japanese people still believe this traditional ceremony. of course, I do not want to say that Japanese people are stupid. It is so important to treasure those ceremony.
