I watched a movie named “East is East.” This movie is related to religion, especially Islam and immigrants, and it reflects serious problems about them like discrimination. It shows so heavy problems, so after I watched it, I became tired completely.

It is story of one family composed of different racial people. The father is Pakistani, and his wife is English. Each of them believes different religions. He believes in Islam, and she believes in Christianity. He is strict Muslim, so he forced his family to be muslim. So, they have to be Muslim at least in front of him. At the beginning of the movie, the family except him ran to attend a Christian event, avoiding the father’s eyes. This scene accurately expresses their depth of the faith and suppression of him.

Before I watched this movie, I did not understand specific problems of cultural differences. Especially, in the case that there are different racial people in a same family, I could not imagine the circumstances. In such situation, tolerance and interest for other people are important. If you cannot understand their belief and what they think, it is necessary to know about them, because knowing is the beginning og understanding.
