  1. ‘Kimi no Nawa’ is the Japanese animated blockbuster in 2016. Locations where have used in the film have created a tourism boom in Gifu prefecture and Nagano prefecture. Yet they have served as models for the film’s locations, it is said that because of copyright of Toho, the local governments cannot play up any connection, such as producing something using the title of the movie. Although Toho joined hands with the Gifu government to promote an animated film ‘Rudolf to Ippaiattena’, according to film critic Hideyo Yoshimura, the company think it would be an inefficient use of resources to work with municipalities to promote a film because it is already a blockbuster. However, fans of ‘Kimi no nawa’ still continue to make their pilgrimage, and locals business are trying to seize the opportunity.
