Oyatsu Club is a supporting activity for fatherless families by giving them “offerings” of temples all over Japan. In fact, even though it is thankfull that temples get so huge amount of offerings from supporters, monks can nor consume all of offerings, either throw them away because offerings are for “the Buddha”. So, Oyatsu Club was launched as an efficient way to consume offerings and help poor people on the basis of the Buddhism idea “Osusowake”.I think this activity has some advantages other than saving fatherless familes from poverty and hunger.

First, Oyatsu Club enables people to feel the buddhism closer. I think most of Japanese tend to think religions as somthing far away from dairy life. However, as this activity connects the Buddhism with “food” which is basic for everyone and give people chances to contact with monks, people would get to feel the Buddhism closer.

Secondly, Oyatsu Club can teach the importance of cooperation. “Sharing something with others” or “helping poors” are very basic but important ideas for the Buddhism. Those who support poors would be happy to be said ” thank you” and those who are given a lot of kindness would feel warm. From these experiences both of them would get to know the importance of cooperation.

Finally, Oyatsu Club can tell poverty in Japan. Japan is known as one of economically developed countries and famous for its high standard of living. On the contrary, it is true that there are many people who suffer from poverty. Oyatsu Club has now a lot of supporter throuhout Japan and often covered by the media. What is to say, it have strong influence to tell poverty in Japan.

In conclusion, Oyastu Club was originally launched to consume offerings efficiently and save fatherless families from poverty. However, this activity can also give opportunities people to get to feel the Buddhisim closer, to know importance of cooperation and poverty in Japan. I hope Oyastu Club make more people know poverty in Japan and less people suffer from poverty.
