Whether high school students need school uniforms or not depends on the educational environment, school culture, and individual perspectives. The positive aspects include the establishment of unity and identity. School uniforms create a sense of unity, reinforcing students’ sense of belonging and the school’s identity. This is expected to contribute to the overall coherence of the school, fostering cooperation and shaping the school’s atmosphere. School uniforms are also anticipated to reduce socioeconomic disparities and alleviate the pressure related to appearance, minimizing visible differences in students’ clothing. Moreover, they might reduce the pressure associated with individual fashion choices and lower the risk of discrimination or bullying based on appearance. However, for students who feel that school uniforms are not suitable or prefer more individual expression, uniforms can be seen as constraints on self-expression. This may impact the development of creativity and individuality. Additionally, for some families, the purchase of school uniforms can be an economic burden. High costs or the need for multiple uniforms may strain household budgets. In my opinion, the final decision should be made considering the circumstances of the school, the community, and taking into account the voices of the students. While introducing school uniforms can enhance the overall order and unity of the school, improving students’ learning and social experiences, it is essential to respect individual needs and personalities, as well as to consider economic burdens.
