I think euthanasia should be adopted in Japan. The debate on the introduction of euthanasia involves ethical complexities and emotional factors. Although it does, there are many people who are exhausted to live here. Euthanasia refers to the right of patients, unable to endure illness or suffering, to choose death safely and legally with the assistance of a physician. While opinions vary, a cautious approach is essential for its implementation. Supporters argue for euthanasia, emphasizing respect for patients’ dignity and autonomy. They believe that in situations where pain and medical conditions become unbearable, patients have the right to choose death. Despite medical advancements, offering this choice in situations where suffering cannot be alleviated is seen as a means of respecting individual human dignity. On the other hand, opponents assert the sanctity of life and argue that the purpose of healthcare should be treatment and patient care. Concerns arise that legalizing euthanasia might lead to a widespread acceptance of choosing death, altering societal values regarding the sanctity of life. There are also concerns about potential misdiagnosis and inadequate assessment of psychological suffering leading to erroneous judgments. In the introduction of euthanasia, prudent guidelines and strict limitations are crucial, requiring thorough communication between physicians and patients. Moreover, if the legalization of euthanasia progresses, societal discussion and education become imperative. While consensus on this issue is challenging, a fair debate considering patients’ suffering, dignity, and societal values is necessary.
