The movie of “Miss Representation” asserts the women’s minority situation and the responsibility of media. Firstly, in this movie, woman’s situation particularly in teenagers, is explained. Most of teenagers don’t have confident with their own body, and the rate of this trend tend to increase. Moreover, woman cost beauty care as much as 1 year cost of university. In this way, woman have high consciousness to beauty. This high consciousness was made by effect of media like CM, Movie, commercial and magazine. Therefore, this movie argues one of the causes of woman’s depression, eating disorder, lower confident of body is media expression. I think this analysis is right and this trend has been seen all over the world including Japan. In fact, I often see the woman who try diets even though she is too thin. As mentioned in this movie, such an excessive depression of own body is due to expression of media. In Japan, most of celebrities who appear on the cover of magazine have ideal body as if she had lived in virtual space.

Besides, this movie also refers to the low rate of woman’s political participation. This movie shows the date that 67 countries in the world have had female presidents or prime ministers. However, The US is not one f them and the US is 90^th in the world in terms of the level of gender equality. This statistic’s date is in 2011. I searched the date of 2023 and the rate of this is changed 43rd in the US. This change shows the improvement of attitude to woman. Thus, I think the peace of gender is expanded in the US. On the other hand, the rate of this in Japan is worse, 98^th in 2011 to 125^th in 2023. This statistic represents a divergence of genderless consciousness in Japan from the rest of the world. I think Japan should take immediate action to improve gender equality.
