In the 21st century, a large amount of media was produced and distributed due to the high degree of digitization. The form of the industry was also greatly influenced by the media, and accordingly, various contents have been produced and consumed. These media have had a tremendous impact on consumers. This time, I would like to talk about the negative impact of these media on people. In the media industry, where people’s attention becomes money, producers have been producing more stimulating and intuitive media to attract consumers’ attention. A typical example is an advertisement featuring a woman wearing high-exposure clothes. Women’s roles in many commercials, games, dramas, and movies were limited. It has been seen as a heroin or passive being in a revealing outfit. This led consumers who encounter the media to have a biased coming-of-age consciousness. It is adolescents who have had a particularly greater impact on these side effects. Adolescence is an important time in life when you are exposed to various external factors and establish your self and values. Adolescents are at high risk of having false gender values if they encounter media that are biased toward some aspects during these times. Furthermore, there is a concern that social false gender values will be fixed by repeating the same mistakes as they become adults and produce content. However, there has been an increasing movement to correct these biased gender values in recent years, and I think it will improve further in the future society.
