Discrimination in Japanese University for Women

A medical school at a Japanese university intentionally lowered the university entrance exam scores for women. In the examinations, the scores were adjusted to less than 30% for women to pass. Women often leave the workplace because of pregnancy or childbirth. This adds to the shortage of doctors in Japan. Despite women are making progress in society, this news is clearly discrimination for women.

After this incident, the university was required to publish college acceptance rates by gender. There were a number of universities where the acceptance rate for boys was clearly higher than that for girls. Several of these universities were found to have unfairly scored the exams by lowering scores for girls, and were punished for this.

I think girls and boys should have the same opportunities. This kind of discrimination in medical school admissions should never be allowed.
