Pierrot le Fou is one of Godard’s most famous works. To put it simply, it is a story about a man betrayed by a woman in an escape drama between him and her. The two of them, who happened to have a murder case and left Paris, transfer to a stolen car and go south to France. It expresses men and women who live in the moment, and their fragility are attractive. There are very rare parts that are corny, but they are also enjoyable. However, I think that the most interesting thing about this movie is not the story or plot. We can enjoy the picture itself of this movie. In other words, this film was devised the editing, composition, music, and dialogue, and it can be enjoyed in the image itself. The composition and colors are beautiful in every cut and the lines and music are also artistic. Also, there are occasional cuts with pictures and posters on display, which also represent the state of the two of them. “À bout de souffle” was a black-and-white movie, but this work is a color movie. I feel that Godard pursues the beauty of each cut as he enjoys the transition from black and white to color.
