I watched the short movie about marginal village. Marginal village means the village with over half the residents over the age of 65. The most surprise things is that there are only 37 students in junior high school in Nanboku-cho although there were about 1400 children in the past. That’s because many young people are leaving in their hometown, for example they have to work or they want their children to educate near Tokyo. Thus, rural population is decreasing year by year. Also, I think this has both advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that teacher can teach each person properly. It would be easier to ask questions, because of the close between teacher and student. On the other hand, there is a demerit of not being able to hold events such as athletic meets, music concerts, and group activities.

Learning the current situation, I was strongly motivated to do volunteer work in marginalized regions. I do not know in detail, but if there are programs that playing with the children there or helping revitalize the community, I would like to participate.

As you know, this is one of the serious problems that is facing Japan. We have to think and act more.
