This movie tells how women are shown in the media. Women are used many advertisements for a long time because many people think women are attractive to advertise. Most advertisement use women’s sex. They treat women as an object. For example, many advertisements use women in a swimwear or even nearly naked. These kind of advertisements attract attention, but I think these advertisements include discrimination against women.

In the movie, a girl told “It’s all about the body, not the brain.” I sometimes think this word is true. Women are often judged by their looks, not their personality. Through history, women are treated as inferior and still now, media shows this discrimination.

Patriarchal cultures are those dominated by men. In these societies, traditions, religious beliefs and discriminatory laws deny women their natural rights. These traditions and beliefs are accepted norms thought to maintain social harmony.

In the last century, however, the situation has improved considerably. Women now have the right to vote. Laws protect them against discrimination and domestic violence. In some countries, the number of women attending university has become comparable to that of men. And some women have achieved true economic independence.  They have also won such specific rights as maternity leave. However, I think all media should think how to show women. How media shows women affect discrimination against women.
