Gap

I would like to have a reflection about recent news. A college student in China bought something online. The courier was not able to deliver the goods to the student’s room (dormitory). The student chose insult the courier and gave dirty words to the courier. The most ridiculous thing was that the student intentionally called the courier “lower class people”, “pig”. The student was definitely criticised later, but this news did caused people to think.

Currently, the Gini coefficient is extremely high in China. Most of the wealth within China is controlled by small amount of people. One important thing is that for most traditional social media platforms, for example Weibo (Chinese version twitter), Bilibili, are filled with people of so-called “upper class”. They are connected to the “real-world”. However, most of the population still remain in rural areas. There are no platforms for me to express themselves, and many of them cannot even afford a smartphone or use it. This means the social common sense is not controlled by these people. The gap between people with vested interests and people in poverty is growing larger. I have to use a quote from Das Kapital Volume 1 by Karl Marx: Capitalists have to live on poor but diligent labours.
