Do you know that dogs have risks to get heatstroke like humans? According to Asahi Newspaper, a team from UK published that flat-faced dogs, such as Chow Chow and Bulldogs, are likely to get heatstroke more than other breeds. Also, shapes of their faces are more prone to suffer heat exhaustion than to being overweight. This team analyzed 390 dogs diagnosed with heatstroke and found that many of them were dogs with short and flat faces. Then, there are reports that these breeds have problems with regulation of body temperature. In addition, heavier dogs and older dogs are at higher risk to get it than others.

One of three households have a dog in Japan, but I think many people would not know and not pay attention to whether their dogs suffer from heat stroke, so people need to take measures before their dogs feel sick. Recently, a lot of cooling products have been made for example cooling matts, bandanas, clothes and so on. It is expected that the temperature in summer of this year will be as high as normal or higher than usual. Therefore, I recommend people to buy these cooling goods to protect their lives, and people should take care of their dogs physical conditions.
