I think the reason why “Aladdin” was a big hit is matching of the music and image.

For example, “Friend Like Me” was the BGM of the scene when Genie came out from a lamp.  Genie and Aladdin danced matching the words of the music. Also, the scene was made by a lot of techniques such as CG, moving of camera and so on.  Because of the  up-tempo music and gorgeous image, the scene was impressive.   Also, “A Whole New World” had a big impression for me. Aladdin and Jasmine got on the magic carpet and traveled around the world together.  This scene was also made by CG, but it looked like the real, because the wind blowed and the movinf of magic carpet which CG made matched with the real wind. I think a small scheme influence the whole impression.

Although the story of “Aladdin” and some music had been popular before the live-action version released, many techniques and the integration both of music and image gave new feelings and impressions to audience. In sum, I found that the image and music had strong relation and the combination of them can change the impression or atmosphere.
