Cyber-bullying cases are increasing in Japan too (especially in school). It is more prominent in higher grades. Many school tend to hesitate to report cyber-bullying because most of the harassment occurs outside the class.

Unlike traditional bullying, I think the biggest problem is that cyber-bullying can continue over a school break or even after a victim stops going to school because it doesn’t require physical, face-to face interaction.  It is hard to find it. And also it is easier for anyone to participate in bullying. I’ve never experienced the bullying before, but I’ve heard many of my friends were suffering from the harsh comments they get through the social media. To prevent this, I’m trying not to use social media as possible or whenever I use it, I’m trying not to post my personal information and make my account as a private so that not many of the people won’t see it easily.

What is dengerous at most about cyber-bullying is invisible, too easy to hide from others either people who actually do the bublling or people who become victims of them. Because of the technology massive developing young ages like elementary students even have own devices these days, it seems it’s difficult to prevent cyber-bulling around. I believe that social media is one of good ways to communicate and have relationship with others. However, it is necessary to see each other in person, face to face to have real relationship instead of on the screen.
