The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 American comedy-drama film based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name. The film was honored by the National board of Review as one of the year’s ten best.

The story is mainly about Andy, the heroine of the film, struggles with her job. Her job is a assistant of charismatic chief editor of famous fashion magazine “RUNWAY.”

Meryl Streep acted the chief editor, Miranda Priestly. Miranda always says an unreasonable demand to Andy. She commands with minimum words and minimum facial expressions. Meryl’s acting was so amazing. When she first appears in the film, the atmosphere of the office change immediately. The scene made my spine froze.

Many people might think the world that Andy live in is different from the world that we live, because she works in a fashion company and wears luxury brand clothes. However, many people sympathize her. The film depicts Andy’s worries, efforts, happiness, and sadness while she works in the company. She expresses each of her emotions very naturally. Therefore, she catches women’s heart. At last, she throws away her carrier and chooses to live her own life. It cheers us to live as a woman, enjoying both work and love.

This film is still famous in Japan maybe because it builds the basis of fashion-drama in Japan. First Class and Cecile’s Plot are one of the representative Japanese fashion-dramas. These dramas are very similar to the film.
