Recently, the child labor has emerged as a social problem.

First of all, what is child labor? Child labor is work that harms children or keeps them from attending school. Around the world and in the U. S., growing gaps between rich and poor have forced millions of young children out of school and into work.

Secondly, where does most child labor occur? Asia and the Pacific still have the largest numbers. The countries in these two areas hold almost 78 million and this is 9.3% of child population. And Sub-Saharan Africa also has the big number of child labor. This region holds 59 million and this is over 21%.

Finally, what is solution to eradicate child labor? One way is to make education free of charge. Extremely poverty of their family is one factor of child labor, so reduction of financial burden would be effective. Besides, implementing fair trade norms helps prevent child labor. Fair trade is committed to playing a positive role in enabling producers, workers and processors to adopt a rights-based approach to eliminate illegal labor. We can freely convertible to protecting working children from illegal labor just by buying fair trade products.

In conclusion, child labor problem continues to pose a challenge for a long time. Government has been taking various pro-active measures to tackle this problem. However, considering this problem is linked to poverty and illiteracy, it requires much more efforts from all society and people to solve this problem. Child labor can be controlled, if each individual takes responsibility of prevailing child labor and the government functions effectively in my opinion.
