Heatwave deaths top 1700 in India

Hospitals in India battled on May 28 to treat victims of heatwave that  has killed more than 1700 people just over a week. This year has already recorded the highest number in two decades though hundreds of people lost their lives in every summer.  The Press Trust of India news agency showed temperatures have reached 47 degrees Celsius in southern Andhra Pradesh where the most people, 1334, have succumbed since May 18. Doctors said they have never seen such many case before. According to J V Subbaro who is a medical doctor in Andhra Pradesh, heatwave mainly affected the poor and the elderly who were not aware of the danger of heatstroke. Furthermore, another research group in New Delhi said a number of deaths could be due to the sudden onset of the heat this year. Many Indian people are suffered from heatstroke and  insomnia which comes from the severe heat. However, a real summer is coming soon and more strict situation is predicted.
