I would like to introduce a very famous horror film “The Shining”. The book, “The Shining” by Stephen King, is the original of this film. Stephen King is such a famous American author that he is known as the “King of Horror”. He created many masterpieces such as “IT”, “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption”, “Stand by Me” and so on. The storyline is that a man decided to work as a hotel manager in the whole winter and he went to the hotel with his wife and son. The hotel is deep in the mountains so it is isolated from the world by deep snow in winter. He was mentally worn out because of the isolation and the fear, and finally he lost his mind. Then, he tried to kill his family. There are some famous scenes in this film, but especially the scene where the man is trying to break through the door by an axe is so famous that many later horror films are affected by it. If you watch this film without reading the original book, you might be confused by the last cut of the movie because it is not explained well in the film. The director changed the plot from the original book, so it is hard to understand some scenes. However, this work is still highly regarded because the director was obsessively committed to the quality of each scene and a new method of shooting was used.
