We watched a movie called “East is East” during IE class last week. This movie described a family that is consisted of a father who is from Pakistan, a mother who is from England and their seven children. The father is Muslim, and he followed the strict religion rules. So, this movie also showed how hard those living with such a person felt.

Although the story had a lot of serious scenes, it also had some scenes that made us laugh. By watching this movie, I could learn some cultural differences. For example, Muslim people have to have arranged marriages. In fact, during this movie, two sons were forced to see two women in advance for arranged marriages while they did not want to.

These days, the number of the international marriage has been increased. I thought from this movie it seems interesting to live with other countries’ partners, but they have to have much knowledge about his or her country, religion and culture before getting married. It is important to think about it well and discuss with parents.
