Sherlock-The-Abominable-BrideThis is Minami Ota. I will introduce you to “SHERLOCK: The Abominable Bride” (2016) as my eighth movie review. I will write about the stolyline and the swiching point of the era.

This is created based on one of the most famous stories “Sherlock Homes” written by Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle. “SHERLOCK” TV drama series from BBC become extraordinary popular. The drama series include so many homage points. The popular ditective, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch), and a doctor, Watson (Martin Freeman), work in the 21st century in the drama with smartphone.  This time however, they play a role in the 19th century. Sherlock and Watson try to solve the mystery of the dead wedding bride who walk around after death kill some gentle men.

The swiching point means that the point they come to the 21st century. Sherlock is a drug abuser, so he visits his brain, ‘mind palace’ due to the effect of cocaine. He goes to the palace, the 19th century and the 21st century suddenly. This is disadvantageous point that audience may not follow the story. This movie lacks coherence. The director focus on what Sherlock thinks and the changes of his mind, so some audience cannot grasp the story just watching it once.

The era in this movie is called an old and good era from many British. For example, steam locomotives and carriages. You can understand the UK cercumstance in the 19th century, Victrian era, with “SHERLOCK”.
