Korea is one of the countries with unusually high interest in college entrance exams. As of 2021, the college entrance rate in Korea is 79%, and four out of five Korean students go to college. In Korea, there is still a strong perception that studying is the most reliable means of success. Korean high schools are eager to send more students to famous universities, and the entire country is striving to enter universities, including retakers. Because of the atmosphere of this country, the Korean SAT, the Suneung, has the same authority as an annual event. On the day of the Suneung, all police personnel will go into traffic control for the CSAT applicants, and if they are likely to be late, they will board a police car or motorcycle to take them to the test site. During the time to conduct a listening evaluation in the English section during the CSAT, it is managed at the national level to remove factors that may interfere with test takers, such as controlling the movement of aircraft over the test site. Because test takers themselves are also aware that this test determines their lives, they often make bad choices, such as giving up their lives due to the burden and despair of bad grade. However, recently, the perception that studying is not the only answer to life has begun to spread, and there is a movement outside of the entrance examination-oriented education, such as finding one’s own career path even after graduating from college. I hope it will be a society where everyone can find their own career path and live a happy life.
