This is a documentary movie about Sergei Polunin, a ballet dancer. This is not just a movie about how he secceed.

He was born in a Ukrainian SSR a poor city. When he was 10, he entered a big ballet school. To pay his school fee, his father and his grand mother moved abroad for work.

Then he moved to London, to enter Royal Ballet Scool, one of the most famous ballet schools in the world.

In 2012, when he was 22, he became the principal dancer at the Royal Ballet Company, he was the youngest principal ever. Then he suddenly quit the company.

People criticized him about what he does, such as tattoos, drug use, partying and something like that. He is talented, and tried harder than anyone else, but suddenly he was broken.

In the movie, because this is a documentary film, his childhood days are shown by taken by his parents with using home video. Not only videos, but also the pictures are used. And the music in this movie is not classic, but pops or rock such as black Sabbath. The music contrast with ballet gave me a shock.

It’s a film that asks question about the how the ballet world should be. It forces the dancers extreme stoicism both mentally and physically.
