“Intouchables” is a French movie released in 2011. The director is Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano, and actors of two main characters are François Cluzet and Omar Sy. All of them are French but Omar Sy’s parents are both immigrants from West Africa. Therefore, at this point, he matches his character in the movie.

This movie shows a friendship between two men, Driss and Philippe, overcoming the racial barrier and prejudices of a handicapped person. The story is almost based on fact, and in the last scene, real pictures of two people who were a motif of this movie are projected.

Philippe is a rich person who lives in a gorgeous mansion, but he is a quadriplegic. On the other hand, Driss lives in a poor area in France where many immigrants live. He lost his job and applied for his caregiver. Although he applied to interview for the work to get the document which proves the rejection so that he can continue receiving his welfare benefits, he passed the interviewing. Philippe likes Driss because he does not treat Philippe with pity.

My favorite scene is that Driss laughs uproariously at the Opera stage which is too classic for him. Then, his laughter infects Philippe. I like the honest personality of Driss.

I like this movie because they build a good relationship regardless of race, and disability. They sometimes make ironic jokes with each other. It shows that Driss breaks a prejudice in which a caregiver has to be polite to his or her master.
