Today, I am going to talk about my studies of German. I have been learning it since I was 18 years old, and I take in it as a second language. Now, I take German II lessons in this university twice a week. I think that German is so difficult to understand these concepts. Many people may think that grammar is so hard to memorize and understand, but vocabulary especially in nouns and verbs are very difficult for me.

This language is a Germanic language, so it is similar to English in terms of vocabulary, but there are three types of nouns, masculine, feminine, and neuter. For example, a pencil (Bleistift in German) is a masculine noun. Therefore, when you want to say “the pencil”, you have to say der Bleistift. In addition, when you want to say “a dog” in German, you have to say ein Hund. If we acquire German language skills, we have to memorize like this.

Learning unknown language is very hard and difficult, but I feel that it is like a puzzle and a game. I want to learn a few languages, so I will try hard for it.
