One day, evil legion Majimun, are monsters in Okinawa, returns from the distant past to revive in modern-day Okinawa. They are aiming at the nine legendary stone, “Mabui Stone” (Mabui refers to “soul” in the Okinawan dialect), and they attempt to destroy Okinawa’s culture and tradition. Ryujin Mabuyer, is the main hero of this, fights against and stop them from doing this. Ryujin Mabuyer fights Majimun but tries to persuade them. This fight style became a hot topic in Japan. Even though “Ryujin Mabuyer” is a local superhero TV series, this was made into a movie and a comic. This movie was released not only in Okinawa but also in Tokyo.
“Ryujin Mabuyer” is a community-based superhero TV series and is very popular with people in Okinawa. I am from Okinawa and I got to know about Ryujin Mabuyer when I was an elementary school student, so I have a strong affinity for “Ryujin Mabuyer.” Ryujin Mabuyer and Majimun speak in Okinawa’s local dialect, and this series was shot in Okinawa. The name of their special move is also used with Okinawa’s local dialect. There are a lot of local heroes in Japan, but I think that Ryujin Mabuyer is one of the most popular local heroes in Okinawa.
