I would to like have a discussion about problems with short video applications, e.g. TikTok.

We can say that short video applications have been spreading all over the world. Such applications provide people with short videos which include various topics depend on users’ habits. We call these “personalised contents”, which enable people only to see what they like. As applications like TikTok already has a huge number of users, its algorithm works efficiently. The application will recommend videos to the users constantly and accurately, so that the users would not stop using the application. These have been provoking warm discussions. People easily get addicted to such entertainments. Are short video applications taking our time away?

There is another concern about short video applications. Cyber world provides a platform for people of all ages, all backgrounds. There has been news about juvenile pregnancies, misuse of drugs, etc. However, there are still teenagers trying to imitate such behaviours. Social problems, for example education, is widely spreading over the internet. There have not been any clearer for these problems to be exposed than short video applications. The gap between people are clear.

Applications like TikTok does provide a fantastic platform for people to experience various things, the problems are serious as well.
