Mary Quant is a British fashion designer who gained worldwide fame in the 1960s for revolutionizing women’s fashion. Born in 1934 in London, she attended Goldsmiths College and later established her boutique called Bazaar on the King’s Road in Chelsea, a vibrant hub for youth culture at the time.

Quant is best known for her iconic creation, the mini skirt, which she introduced in the early 1960s. The mini skirt was a groundbreaking departure from the prevailing longer hemlines, and it quickly became a symbol of the swinging sixties and the feminist movement. It represented liberation and freedom for women, challenging traditional societal norms.

Beyond the mini skirt, Mary Quant is also credited with popularizing other fashion trends, including bold and playful geometric patterns, bright colors, and innovative use of materials. She is widely regarded as a key figure in the development of the mod fashion movement, which embraced modernity and a youthful outlook.

Her hair style was also iconic. She had very short hair which is rare in the era. It was created by popular hair stylist in 1960s, Vidal Sassoon.
