This movie was made in 1959. After WW2, a man went to the small town where maneged to reconstruction. He had the porpose of the success in that society. In this story, he want two women: the one is young and married, from wealthy house; the other is senior than the man, inteligent, talented and married. At the end, the man falled in love with the senior; however, he must have getten married with the younger because of her pregnant. When the decision was told  the senior, she was got car crashed and passed away. In this film, the marridge was considered that they got married not only each other, but also their own parents and other family. Thus, he was able to get money and social status, but he lost his freedom and essencial person. Two phrases, ” You’ve got already all” and ” You got all you wanted” are very impressive because these imply the her past. In other words, the senior experienced and saw this kind of man. Moreover, she viewed him as the past herself. The title has meaning that room means a space and a chamber; that is, he went to the small room at the top ,where he could not have freedom, from the freedom space.
